Proper pH Promotes Health

In his monthly newsletter, my holistic dentist recently wrote about the importance of proper pH level (7+) in the mouth for oral hygiene, and as a prevention to tooth decay and dental disease. The following is is an excerpt:

"I've written before in this newsletter about the value of "alkalizing" the system. All of the body's metabolic processes depend on having a proper pH. Many leading health experts have been promoting the notion that keeping that optimum pH (slightly alkaline) in the body is a major key to achieving and maintaining good health. This also carries over to oral health. An acidic mouth environment sets the stage for susceptibility to decay and periodontal disease. I'll have more to say on this in future issues.

How do you effectively go about alkalizing the body? There is an excellent small book that is available online as an e-book that I highly recommend. Local author Amy Mosher has written Your Health = Your pH, and I find it to be one of the best resources for learning about the importance of alkalizing for optimal health and how to go about doing it. She covers an amazing array of health issues in a readable and practical book."
